A1. The literal translation from Arabic, much like the Hebrew word “kosher,” means “fit for consumption” or “permissible” (“Halal”). Halal means living a healthy, wholesome, quality and ethical lifestyle. The opposite of Halal is “haram,” meaning not permitted or acceptable for consumption, including because it is contrary to these values.
A2. Halal certification indicates to Islamic and other lifestyle-conscious consumers that products have been assessed for permissibility and have been found to meet all Circle H practice standards. The review also includes evaluation for accuracy in ingredients and integrity of manufacturing, production, handling, storage, cleanliness, safety, and avoidance of contamination and adulteration.
A3. Halal lifestyle extends to Eight (8) economic categories (“Lifestyle Sectors”): food & beverage; finance and insurance; travel & tourism, fashion, media & entertainment, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and healthcare.
A4. The total addressable international market for Halal products and services, across all 8 Lifestyle Sectors, is projected to be approximately $10 Trillion by 2030, serving over 2 billion Muslims and many more lifestyle-conscious consumers. The market segments as follows: up to $2 Trillion for food & beverage, $6 Trillion for finance and insurance, $308 Billion for travel & tourism, $397 Billion fashion, $297 Billion for media & entertainment, $302 Billion for pharmaceuticals, $87 Billion for cosmetics, and $43 Billion for healthcare. In the US alone, the 2024 total addressable Halal market is estimated at $28 Billion, serving 4.5 million Muslims residents and millions more visitors, students and lifestyle-conscious consumers.
